History: At the beginning of the story, Brendan was pure human when he was born into this big world. His first home was located in a small and calm village. His homeland was surrounded by large forest. In the dead silence of night, the village and forest are usually covered in thick and black-grey mist. People from this place used to disappear during the night, one by one. For some inexplicable reason, nobody knew what really happened. Most of the time, adults and children roved through the strange forest. When they disappeared into that place, they never came back, and ever since the people heard about the bad news, they remained prudently and they keep a distance to the foliage. It was prohibited to enter there because they might get lost and killed. After ten years, Brendan had grown up really fast; he was gambolling and playing hide and seeks with his younger sister in the large garden. His mother was on the balcony, sitting on a wooden chair and supervising her two children. She wanted to make sure they wouldn't wander into the deep forest. She would give them a warning every time they get closer to those trees. The father used to come very late at home with a big bottle of alcohol in his hand, he was really drunk and he always was on every night. As long that he was drunk, he had a bad temper toward everyone, he was very unkind and unsympathetic; he mostly had a blasé attitude to his wife and his two children. Every once in a while he would scream at his wife for no reason before going to bed. However, even today the people from the village still couldn't find the explanation of why people keep disappearing each day, but they know that there was something out there; something really bizarre going on in the misty woods. They feel like there was some creature roaming and circling around the village, mostly like nonhuman. The fusiliers from town would go around the foliage for investigating more about them.
After three months of searching, the villager found out that there was a group of vampires in the region. When the soldiers had some information about them, they realized that there was a vampire's territory nearby, not really far from the forest. Every night, those creatures entered into every house to suck the blood of people in order to sustain their undead bodies and survive much longer. Ever since the vampire had come to the village, the population had been reduced; each day people were killed by them. On this night, the rest the people decided to evacuate the small village because it was too dangerous to live there. A large group of vampire saw those people leaving. They would not let them escape, so they decided to attack them, taking the blood of each adult and children. That day it was horrible, there were so many dead people on the ground with a big bite on their neck. Brendan has been on the balcony, staring around and wondering what happened out there. Since the grey mist scudded across the village, he couldn't see things from a distance; he could only hear the shooting gun and people screaming. The mother took Brendan's arm, getting ready to leave the house. His sister was also there with the mother. As soon as they exited the wood, there was a giant vampire on the entrance of the house, waiting for them to take the blood. The mother was terrified that the creature would attack her children so she grabbed the two of them tightly, not knowing what to do next. The male vampire approached slowly, giving them a malevolent smile. Continuing at his slow place, he came to an abrupt stop when he heard a breaking glass nearby. The man with a coy bow hat appeared in the mist, his army boots steeping the broken bottle as he carried an M1 Garand in his hand - a semi-automatic rifle. When the man had lifted his head, the mother realized that it was her fiancé. It was a good thing that he was only half drunk, though; he was still able to control himself. Giving a belligerent stare to the vampire, he held dexterously his long rifle, aiming his enemy. Unfortunately, he knew that he wouldn't be able to kill the vampire because his bullets are not pure silver. Only silver bullet can hurt them. The father would only shoot to distract the big vampire and let his wife and children escaping from the village. Glancing at his wife, he made a gesture with his hand, mostly pointing at the ground and then into the forest. The mother knew about that gesture, it reminded her that there was a secret path in the basement of her house. Without thinking much longer, she grabbed her two children by their hands and they re-entered to the house. Pulling the trigger, the father shot a lot of times to his target, it had no effect against the vampire. He was still standing in front him like if the bullet hit him like a feather. The vampire snarled at him and walked toward him. The men never stopped shooting until his rifle was out of bullet. When he was reloading, another vampire appears behind him and immediately opened his month to bite his neck. It was over for him. Descending the stairs, the mother heard her husband screaming and a tear fell down on her cheek. Remaining strong and brave, she continued to make her way to the small basement, still holding her two treasures in their hands, her heart fluttering wildly. When she stopped near the armoire, she pushed it with all her strength. There was a small door behind it. Brendan and his little sister Mona were staring at her with a slight confusion. The mother tried to open the metal door, it was hard to open it, but she managed to do it. She took the children, putting them inside the dark underground passage. Mona didn't want to go inside because she was afraid of the dark. The mother had to force her to make her go inside. It was the only way to protect her children from the vampire. As soon as they were completely inside, she closed the door and placed the wardrobe back so the vampire wouldn't find them. As she breathed slowly, she heard some footstep behind her. She quickly felt the horrible pain in her neck. Brendan and Mona were in the tunnel of darkness, they could see absolutely nothing; there was only a black image in their vision. They could only listen to their mother screaming near the indestructible door. Mona began to cry softly as she doesn't know what to do. Brendan tried to hold back his tears as he displayed a complete sang-froid. He knew that his mother did everything that she could to protect her children and she really did it. Now he will miss her a lot. Brendan remained strong, knowing that he had to move onward in order to escape the small tunnel. He was only ten, but he seemed very intelligent. Even if his sight was useless for now, he could still feel his little sister nearby; he slowly held her hand for comfort, telling her that we must keep going.
Brendan and his sister toddled through the dark passage as felt a lot of spider webs on their faces. It wasn't really fun to travel there, but they had no choice but to move forward. Every once in a while Mona cajoled her brother by telling him; "I want to get out of this place. Are we there yet?". After a long trip in the dark place, they finally saw a light spot beyond the passage. The two kids sprang to their feet, dashing quickly to the beautiful light. Once they exited the entrance of the passage, they were situated in a large forest, millions of trees in every direction. Brendan and Mona continued the journey, walking slowly beneath the branches and leaf as they headed to unknown direction. They were traveling the forest for three days without eating. It was really tough for them to survive in the woods. Every minute they were extremely hungry and they had no choice but to eat the smallest insect. When Brendan and Mona continued to promenade at the calm forest, they saw plenty of dead bodies with a huge bite on their neck. Brendan realized they were his people from the village. As he looked every familiar face, his young face formed into a sad expression. Mona held tightly her brother's hand as she became frightened to see the large number of dead people. Without looking at the dead bodies, they continued to walk as they thought about their parents who had passed away recently. It was a really sad moment of their life. Another day has passed. Mona saw a large river near the small mountain and she began to run for a drink. With another rapid pace, she fell in a deep hole; it was mostly like a trap. Brendan got really worried and scared when he saw his sister collapsing. Running toward the hole, he heard his little sister crying, and then he quickly looked down. She was injured in the deep hole. Brendan looked around anxiously, trying to find a way to save her. He ran into the woods, looking around and searching something useful to save his little sister. After twenty minutes of scouring, he grabbed large and long branch. He thought that it would be really useful. Mona would only climb on the branch to get out of the hole. Hopefully that it would work. Making his way back to see his sister, he dropped the branch and fell on his knees, watching his sister not moving with blood on her neck. Brendan felt great sorrow when she died. He closed his eyes and he cried silently. He knew that the vampire killed her, and at this time he detested the vampires. The young boy padded over to the river, sitting down and paddling his hand in the cold water. As he washed his face, looked reflectively at his reflection and remained silent. He stayed like that for day and night. The next morning, Brendan went to a city where he could other human like him. He thought that staying there would benefit him for surviving much longer. He was really aware when he walked on the sidewalk. He kept looking behind on every minute, making sure that there was no vampire behind him. Brendan didn't have a place to live, so he decided to join the army cadet. He knew they would give him some food and a place to sleep, in fact, the training would help him a lot to be stronger.
Ten years later, the young boy was becoming an adult. He had now reached his maturity. During his training in the cadet, he had learned lot things like using every kind of handguns and assault rifle. He also learned some fight moves to defend himself against any vampires. Brendan had to leave the military academy in order to make his life. He had to find a job first, so he could live in apparent and buy some food. One week later, he was working as a farmer in the maize field. His main job was to collect the maize from every large plant. It was a hard job, but he would still do it for the money. After the work, he had entered into his small apartment to take a small nap. Most of the time, he would go to the balcony to sit on a chair and look at the sky. He always thought about his parents and his sister. He missed them a lot and he wished that they could be on his side. Thinking about his precious family, his green turquoise eyes were full with sadness. Taking his black jacket and glasses, he went outside to wander the city, taking some fresh air and making himself occupied. He put his hand in his pocket, making sure that he had his wallet and keys. When he ambled along the park, a mist suddenly appeared in the empty air and it made him feel uncomfortable. As he walked at a slow pace, he heard a woman screaming beneath the small bridge. Brendan quickly went there to see what had happened. Veering in the direction of the screaming, he saw two silhouette figures through the mist. As he stopped quickly, he looked at the strange man who grabbed the woman. If he was looking really closer, he could see the fangs in the man's mouth. Without a doubt, he was a vampire and he was about to bite the woman. Brendan gave him a hard stare before speaking. "Leave her alone..." He took out his two-Beretta and began to aim. The vampire lets the woman running away and he dashed to him. The young men started to shoot as his two handguns fired almost simultaneously. The vampire still moved forward like if nothing had happened, the bullets didn't penetrate his body. He hardly grasped his neck, lifting him into the air. Brendan dropped his two handguns as he grimaced painfully, starting to suffocate. The vampire was way too strong, so Brendan wouldn't stand a chance against him. With a heartbeat, Brendan took out a stun grenade from his pocket and threw it to his worst enemy. He closed his eyes before it would explode between them. The vampire had a flash blinder in his eyes and covered his face with his hand. Brendan sprang to his feet, breathing heavily and dashing in the direction of the forest. As he made his way near the rocks, he stopped abruptly to take a rest. Looking in every direction, he felt that someone hiding and spying on him. During the moment of silence, he heard a breathing noise behind him. As he whirled around, the vampire was in front of him and he delivered a powerful punch to his face. Brendan fell on the ground, bumping his head against a rock. He was about to lose consciousness, but still able to see. The vampire walked slowly to him as he smirked evilly, getting ready to take his blood. Brendan saw a furry beast behind the vampire; he wasn't sure what it was. The beast swung the vampire with its claw and the fight began. The blood spurted from them as they received brutal hits. The young men were starting to lose his vision; he could just hear their snarling, screaming and yelping. After the unexpected fight, there was a moment of silence. Brendan looked at the night sky and beautiful stars, knowing that he would die soon. The time had come finally to him; he would have the same fate like his mother, father and sister. The furry creature slowly approached to him, giving him a serious stare. Brendan wasn't scared of the beast because he was already in peril. With his last breath, he slowly closed his eyes, his vision becoming completely black.
On the next morning, Brendan was still lying on the ground. For some strange reason, he was still breathing. His green turquoise eyes were opened when the light of the golden sun was permeating the entire forest. Feeling the intense pain in his neck, he stood up in a slow motion, his eyes blinking rapidly as he scanned the trees and bushes. At first, he was looking at himself, making his fingers and legs moving a bit. He couldn't believe that he was still alive. He really thought that he was dead. Couldn't it be a miracle? Brendan began to walk unsteadily, making his way to the city. Every so often, he would put his hand on his neck to scratch it. Once he entered to his apparent, he went to the bathroom to use the mirror. Removing his glasses, he looked at himself. He wasn't really injured, but he noticed that there was bite on the left side his neck. His wound seemed more like if a giant wolf bit him. What actually happened last night?
